Watford ended their 1995-96 League campaign strongly with 13 points from their final 6 games, including 15 goals scored insuccessive home games against Port Vale, Reading and Grimsby Town. Unfortunately form earlier in the season had not been so strong and relegation to the third tier could not be avoided.
Manager Glenn Roeder departed during the season and the return of the club legend Graham Taylor and Kenny Jackett did lift spirits and performances. This was a team packed with veterans like David Holdsworth, Gary Penrice and Nigel Gibbs, but younger players in top scorer Craig Ramage and David Connolly gave hope for a better future.
