Bayern Münchens 1986 Bundesliga title win was one of the most memorable in the clubs history. A poor first-half of the season overtuned with a remarkable run in the second half that brought just a single defeat in 17 League games. Even so, Udo Latteks team still went into the final round trailling Werder Bremen by 2 points.

Even  Bayerns  6-0 demolition of Mönchengladbach would have meant nothing had Bremen taken just one single point at Stuttgart, but their shock loss meant Bayern jumped to the summit for the first time this season to win an eighth Bundesliga title on goal difference. A week later they added the DFB-pokal too thanks to a comprehensive victory over Stuttgart.
