Having obtained the royal patronage from King Alfonso XIII a few months earlier gave rise to the iconic name Real Betis Balompié, resulting in an institution still standing strong to this day. A lesser known fact is that, follwing the historic merger and new name, Betis would play its first few matches in a striking yellow and black striped shirt. Althrough returning to its historic verdiblanco shortly after, the yellow and black remains iconic among those mosrt interested in the clubs heritage.
