For Nottingham Forest the 1960s was a decade of consistent performance that saw the club firmly established as a top-flight regulars for the first time since the return of the century. The pinnacle of the decade - indeed the high point in Forests League history in the pre- Clough years - arrived in 1967, a miraculous season in which Forest finished as runners-up in Division One to Manchester United and reached the FA Cup semi-finals.
No nonsense defender Terry Hennessey was typical of a team that was organised, hard-working and difficult to score against rather than one filled with star names, althrough ex-Torino and Arsenal forward Joe Baker added some glamour up front as past of a succesful partnership with top scorer Ian Storey-Moore. Forests FA Cup ambitions came to an end in Sheffield at Hillsborough after deteat to Tottenham.
